About the role
You will act as a technical support advisor to FTI Consulting staff on all information technology issues and provides state-of-the-art technical solutions in support of computer and local area networks.
Additionally, you may also provide technical support to FTI Consulting clients on billable engagements. You will assume some leadership and ownership role on internal help desk and provides applications and systems support, voice / PBX, application and network systems administration and seeks to document user requirements of FTI staff in the pursuit of providing solutions to their technical needs. In this role, you provide mid-level support, and detailed knowledge of computer software and hardware, entry-level network operating systems, advanced PC applications, Internet services, multi-media and messaging software used in FTI.
This position reports directly to the Team Lead. You will be working as part of the ITG team in a customer support role for all business and technology related issues at the local office level. The ability to work in a team environment is required.
What You’ll Do
- Provide support in the configuration, installation and troubleshooting of software applications and databases on workstations, file and application servers.
- Provide support in the configuration, installation and troubleshooting of voice PBX systems software and provides for administration of handsets and related cabling and configurations.
- Configures and supports all ITG approved wireless devices.
- Maintains thorough understanding of video equipment installed in the office and can provide audio and video calling assistance for staff.
- Provide support with application software installation and daily operation. Remains knowledgeable of, and experienced with using operating systems on workstations and servers. Is familiar with local and wide area network concepts, wiring schemes, LAN/WAN connectivity, and data communications protocols. Remains competent and has a thorough understanding of PC hardware components and ITG supported software, including messaging clients, web browsers and Internet, anti-virus software, office productivity applications, and time entry systems.
How You’ll Grow
- Works as a technology support advocate for all FTI Consulting staff in all practice areas. May act as the liaison between office and systems integrators and/or vendors when appropriate.
- Works within the IT group in the definition, documentation and implementation of appropriate processes and procedures to continuously improve the technology support within FTI Consulting.
- Works within the IT group while working with FTI practice areas and corporate staff to establish technology user requirements that the entire ITG will use to define and design solutions to.
- Works within the IT group in maintaining an in-depth knowledge of all client care services and applications used in FTI Consulting. Acts as an advocate for the staff in the resolution of any and all computer-related problems or issues. Assists in writing, structuring, and organizing technical procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
- Excellent communication (written & verbal), planning, organization, administrative and customer service skills
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment and able to work under tight deadlines
- Availability to travel with little notice
- Detailed knowledge of current leading edge PC workstation and server hardware and software including networking and communications interfaces and relationships.
- Ability to grasp fundamentals quickly and instruct others in their use. Competent to work on fairly complex computer and local and wide area networking problems independently.
- Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook) and experience with Windows 2008-16 server, and Windows 7-10 operating systems
- 3 year experience in a 50 staff LAN environment
- College degree or equivalent professional experience preferred and MOS certification will be an advantage
